My Mom

My Mom is my best friend and shares a lot of my passions.  One of her greatest passions is her dogs.

Her sole mate, Murphy, her little black Miniature Schnauzer, passed away  a little over two yrs ago.  Mom was more than heartbroken... She was overcome by crushing sorrow and deep grief.  Suffering along with her in her grief, was her other love, and Murphy's companion Tammy.

For a few months, Mom and Tammy tried to get by by themselves.  But when Mom started to think about adopting a friend for Tammy, presumably a little male companion, her friend Virginia learned of a little 2 yr old female that needed a new home.  She has her heart set on a little boy for the family but decided to go take a look at the female.  Well it was quite a shock when they saw the female.   She was than living with an elderly couple who were not in great shape, and apparently were giving food and treats in lieu of exercise and training. She was like a balloon with feet.  Although this was not the little male she hoped for, Mom decided to take this "little" girl home and rescue her from what surely would have been a shortened life.  She would foster her and take care of her health, put her on a diet and give her exercise and training, and then find her a good home that would be her forever home.

That was almost two years ago, and Heidi is firmly implanted in Mom's home and heart...

I recently sent my Mom an email about a dog named Brutus that www.Adoptaboxerrescue.com just got in.

Subject: AABR new dog Brutus

Hi Mom,
Do you have any room for this guy? Just thought you might want to follow his story... :-)
Love,
Sandy

  Her Reply...
  Hi Sandy,
You can add that Heidi has held her present weight for the last  1- 1/2 years and is one of the joys of my life.  Also, that it took about 10 months to get her down to her correct weight by simply keeping her on a normal diet and taking both my schnauzers for walks every day.  After that she has been so full of energy and fun she keeps herself slim and keeps me laughing at her silly little antics every day.
Poor little Brutus needs someone to show him how good life can be without over indulging in food.  I think it's usually the owner who is too lazy, or sick, to put in a little effort so they try to show love through food. I hope he can find a person who can use common sense and they will see how great the rewards are every day.
Love, Mom
P.S. I'm sending you a picture of Heidi when I first got her and then a recent picture of her yesterday.
